Ibiza Town has two sides: one, as a world-famous clubbing capital and the other as Eivissa, a Unesco-listed cultural and historical hub. It's the largest town on the island, set on the sun kissed south coast.
Ibiza Town is the kind of place that has it all: hip hotels and restaurants, boutique shopping, some of Ibiza's top superclubs and easy access to the beaches of Playa d'en Bossa; all in the shadow of thousands of years of history. Holidays to Ibiza Town suit a broad range of holidaymakers, from families to beachgoers, and clubbers to cultural visitors.
In Ibiza, only San Antonio rivals the nightlife of Ibiza Town. It's a major Mediterranean party town, with a vibrant summer buzz and an A-list line up chill-out bars, cafés, cocktail lounges and clubs. The superstar on the club scene is Pacha, the oldest of Ibiza's top clubs having been going for 40 years. It attracts a stellar cast of top international DJs like David Guetta, Pete Tong and Tiesto. Other famous clubs like Anmeisa and Privilege are just a short drive away in San Rafael. Space and Ushuaia are down on the beachfront in Playa d'en Bossa.
Without a doubt, Ibiza's town greatest treasure is Dalt Vila ('High Town'). 2,500 years of history awaits discovery among its cobbled warren of narrow passageways and alleys. Tucked away little cafés and tapas bars spill out onto the streets, stone courtyards remain unchanged for centuries, Gothic buildings overlook age-old chapels, while art galleries and artisan shops offer local crafts.
The huge stone battlements of this Unesco medieval city tower over the town. The formidable city walls are so massive they were never breached. Climb to the top of the ramparts for sublime panoramic views of the island. There's also the Museo Puig des Molins with a world-class collection of Roman artefacts, while the Gothic cathedral is a must-see attraction.
Ibiza Town is perfectly placed for enjoying Blue Flag-certified Play d'en Bossa beach, the longest on the island at nearly 3km of golden sand. It's a lively beach, lined with bars and cafés and features excellent family amenities including lifeguards and changing rooms, plus wheelchair access. There are loads of water sports available. For somewhere a little quieter, head to Talamanca bay or tranquil Figueretas.
Ibiza Town is a great shopping holiday destination, it's the style capital of Ibiza. If you're into your Balearics fashion - all kaftans and Ray Bans - you'll find a wealth of funky boutiques and independent clothing stores. There are also fashionable jewellers, leather goods stores, designer and high street stores. The streets Vara del Rey and Rosello are good places to start, as well as the maze-like Dalta Vila. Be sure to check out vibrant San Jordi market on Saturday mornings; it's a flea market with a hippyish vibe.
