At The Airport

Being at the airport doesn't need to be one big rush through to the plane. In fact, with a large choice of duty free shops and restaurants to choose from, being at the airport can be just another part of your holiday.

Leave Plenty Of Time

Leave Plenty of Time at the airport

Getting to the airport early has many benefits. Spending more time relaxing and shopping, and less time worrying about missing your flight is a big one but also, it means being near the front of the queue and having a better chance of haggling for the good seats.

It is important to bear in mind that at some airports, the gates are situated far enough away from the main terminal building to require a shuttle or lengthy walk, so leaving yourself enough time to get to your gate.

Know Where You're Going

Departure times and flight numbers on a flight board

Check out the airport website before you leave home so that you can familiarise yourself with the layout. Getting a feel for how far your gate is from the main terminal building will save you added stress.

Make sure you know where the flight monitors are so that you can keep an eye on when your flight is boarding and have enough time to make your way towards the gate.

Let your whole party know what time to be at the gate - that way, if you get separated in the shops you can all meet there.

Get Personal

Suitcases on Airport Carousel

There is nothing worse than picking up the wrong luggage at your destination airport. To save this from happening, personalise your suitcases with coloured luggage straps, ribbons or even tinsel. Also put your name and the address of where you will be staying on the luggage label.

Get Your Bearings

Team Tip

At the arrivals lounge you will meet with your resort rep who will direct you to the transport that will take you to your accommodation. However, if you are travelling independently you may need to pick up a hire car or find the right public transport stop.

These facilities are usually very well indicated in airports, so just follow the signs to where you need to be. Alternatively, the airport tourist information services (if available) will be able to provide you with all sorts of information, including a map to help you get your bearings.
