Through it all, you'll find reminders of Turkey's position at the crossroads between Europe and Asia. Once home to the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, Turkey is littered with wonderfully preserved ancient sites, from Lycian rock tombs through Roman theatres to medieval castles.
