Paphos

Paphos is one of the most sophisticated resorts on the island, and is popular for its mix of fascinating historical sites, close proximity to pebble beaches, coves and sedate nightlife. The old town on the hill enjoys a beautiful sea vista. It’s a maze of winding streets with a colourful indoor market that promises fantastic shopping opportunities. Down by the waterfront and the harbour, which is guarded by a small moated Venetian fortress, are some excellent restaurants with lovely views and serving fresh local dishes. The historical sites in Paphos include the Tomb of the Kings, a maze of intriguing tombs carved into the sea cliff, and the Roman Mosaics at the house of Dionysus which date back to the third century. Paphos is also said to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and you can take a visit to Aphrodite’s Rock.
